The Perfect Day in Santorini

The best part about studying in Europe is that you can travel almost anywhere you want. Santorini is on the pricey side, but it’s definitely

worth it. The view from anywhere on the island is insane, not to mention there are dogs everywhere! We discovered that a lot of the dogs you see on the island are strays, but between shopkeepers letting them sleep in their shops and tourists feeding them, they’re really happy. (And super friendly!)

The cool thing about Santorini is that it’s all thanks to the volcano in the middle of the archipelago. Which, I would totally recommend hiking the volcano. It’s not a hard hike at all, and you can see all of the islands.

I also went to the hot springs with my friends, and it was insane! So, the hot springs near the volcano aren’t the typical clear blue of the Aegean Sea. Instead, it’s orange from all of the iron. There isn’t a dock on the island that has the hot springs, so the boats have to drop you off in the water and you have to swim to the hot springs. You can feel it getting warmer as you swim closer, and when you’re really close to land you can see the bubbles.

We also went swimming in the middle of the Aegean Sea. When you look down at the water, it’s the clearest dark blue you can imagine. But when you’re in the water? You can see your toes!
