Everyone has that dream of traveling the world: to see and embrace new cultures and meet new people! I have been blessed with that opportunity during my study abroad and have fully taken advantage of it. Being able to explore not only Stockholm, but other cities as well has definitely been the highlight of my time studying abroad. My friends and I have had the chance to really get to know Stockholm over the last 6 weeks. We are able to take trains, ferries and buses everywhere in and around the city. Since Stockholm is made up of 14 islands, it’s fun to take a day and explore a new one! During our downtime, we like to find a cafe, have a cup of coffee and just hang out. They call that “fika” in Sweden. It’s a time to relax and catch up with friends. Stockholm as a city is gorgeous: there are some days that we take a stroll to a new part of town just to look at all of the beautiful old buildings and scenery.
Another nice thing about the city of Stockholm is that there is always something to see or do. There are so many markets, art shows, museums, concerts, movies and much more. There is a mix of “hustle and bustle” with a “calm and relaxed” vibe of the city which I love.
I have also had the chance to travel outside of Sweden which has been so much fun! So far I have gone to Copenhagen, Denmark and Berlin, Germany. I also have trips planned to Milan, Budapest, Norway, Malta and many more countries. Traveling has been nothing short of amazing. We have been able to try different foods, see breathtaking architecture, and experience different cultural norms and traditions of these countries. Realizing how close in proximity all of these countries are, yet how much the cultures differ has been very eye opening. It really has been an unforgettable experience so far and I am very much looking forward to all of my adventures to come!
