Winter break, 2016

We visited NGO: Parikrama Humanity Foundation. Parikrama was set in place to address the growing issue in India’s urban communities: education. The NGO is based on the premise that even the poorest children from India’s slums deserve quality education. This foundation runs four schools which give underprivileged children the skill set to attain job opportunities. Adopting a 360 program, these schools are built on 4 pillars Healthcare, Food/Nutrition,  Education, and Family care. Making these schools family-oriented, there is also health care provided to the families of the students as well as counseling for those struggling with alcohol and drug addiction. Parikrama supports children from kindergarten until they get a job, while having a dropout rate of 1%. This system ensures that their children break out of the cycle of poverty.
