Fall 2016 Semester in Burgos, Spain
Many people dream of traveling the globe. It is a wonderful, and very possible dream to have. However, many people do not realize what world travelers really go through in order to make their dreams come true.
- Many sleepless nights.
If you have an early morning flight, chances are you will not being sleeping the night before. Especially if you are at mercy of the bus schedule, and the only bus that would get you to the airport on time gets there six hours before your flight. Find a comfy spot to sleep at the airport.
- Stressing about getting around the city.
I remember when I first googled the distance from the airport to my hostel and seeing that it was almost two hours. I rummaged through the Internet to find a reasonable way to get to and from the airport. Once you are in the city, you will find yourself glued to the metro map, which is most often in a foreign language.
- Being homesick.
Traveling is exhilarating, but there will be times that something reminds you of someone back at home. I always think that everything would be perfect if my family and boyfriend were here with me. After a tiring trip, sometimes you just want to book a flight back home.
- Accepting the fact that you will make mistakes.
There is no such thing as a world traveler who hasn’t had any problems. When you are trotting the globe while being sleep-deprived, you are bound to make a mistake at some point. Most mistakes made while traveling are expensive ones, so be sure to have money set aside and hope that you won’t have to use it.
While traveling the world can be exhausting, I have to remind myself that I am living my dream, and that I will be able to relax at home with my loved ones soon. Every world traveler will tell you that despite everything, it is worth it, and they won’t let the bumps in the road stop them from continuing to travel.
