Cost of Living is Relatively Cheap but be Aware of the Little Things:
The exchange rate in Malaysia is about 4:1 which is awesome for a lot of purchases. In the beginning of my trip I freaked out when I heard “oh that will be 75 ringgits” but you get used to hearing high numbers.
Since the exchange rate was significantly different we were able to do a lot of site seeing at relatively inexpensive. I encourage everyone to take advantage of it and do as much as you can!
Like I mentioned most of my purchases were fairly inexpensive but when it came time to do laundry after a week it added up. I did mine at the hotel and let’s say when the concierge said “350 ringgits” I dropped my jaw. My suggestion is to shop around if there you know you are staying in an area for a couple of days.
