Food and Consumer Package Goods Major
Business and Culture in the Dominican Republic
Summer I faculty-led study abroad in Thailand
Getting ready for my study abroad trip I knew I was going to have to pack probably 5 times to make sure I didn’t forget something. I started packing almost a week before I left so I had plenty of time to think of everything I needed. At first I packed way more than I knew I would need so I could gradually take things out. I knew about how many outfits I needed so I started there and added other things as I used them during the day. The only thing I regret not bringing was more clothes, it was so hot in the Dominican Republic that I wore way more than I thought I would. Almost everything else I packed, I used and could even leave some of the stuff I didn’t want to bring back home.
While I was on my study abroad trip I learned so much! I loved being able to learn how to speak some Spanish seeing the culture in their everyday lives. It was also really interesting to be able to learn so much about advertising and marketing in the Dominican Republic. I also gained so much appreciation for the United States and all of the things we have here.
The things I am going to miss most about the Dominican Republic is seeing and doing something new every day, waking up and looking out the window to the beautiful city, and learning and being a part of their culture.
